Greenhouses are indoor horticulture facilities that are optimized for growing certain crops. During flowering stage, high-wattage lights are needed which produce a significant amount of waste heat. Plants are watered frequently, and the soil medium is moist, so the heat from lights causes water to evaporate. Plants also naturally transpire. Consequently, the amount of moisture added to a growing room is significantly different from a normal indoor conditioned space. In the meantime, horticultural crops require precise temperature and humidity levels to maintain health and to prevent the growth of mold, fungus, and mildew. Compared to an office, a growing room requires a significant amount of heat removal and meticulous humidity control. Greenhouses are indoor environments therefore carbon dioxide, temperature and humidity need to be monitored closely to ensure all these factors are at optimal levels for the best growing environment.
Greystone offers the GH Series of Greenhouse sensors which will monitor these three elements of the growing environment accurately. Moreover, Greystone also offers a suspension mount option with this series of products. The suspension mount option is offered because in most cases in a greenhouse environment, the crops being grown thrive when the carbon dioxide levels are optimal. To gain this reading as accurately as possible it is ideal to have the sensor close to the crops since factors like airflow, temperature, and humidity can change depending on what part of the greenhouse it is being measured. As such, our suspension mount cable winder allows suspension of the sensor from the ceiling of the greenhouse using the cable that enters the top of the enclosure through the cable gland, with the cable wound around the cable winder to allow raising of the sensor easily and quickly as the crop grows.
